Who we are

BBA Tax Accounting Services (“BBA Tax”, “we”, “us”) is an accounting firm at 203-307C Richmond Rd, Ottawa, ON K1Z 6X3. If you have a question about this policy or your personal information, email admin@bbatax.ca or call (343) 598-3096.

Information we collect

We collect the information you give us and a limited amount of information about how you use our website:

• Contact form: your name, email, phone number, company name and message.
• Instant quote form: your contact details and your answers about the services you need, such as your employment status, rental properties, revenue range and number of employees.
• Booking a call: intro calls are booked through Calendly, which collects your name, email and any details you enter. Calendly handles that information under its own privacy policy.
• When you become a client: the documents and details we need to do the work, such as tax slips, financial records, bank statements, your Social Insurance Number and business numbers.
• Website use: pages visited, device and browser type, and approximate location, collected through cookies by Google Analytics.

How we use your information

• To answer your questions, prepare quotes and schedule calls.
• To provide accounting, bookkeeping, payroll and tax services, including filing returns and communicating with the Canada Revenue Agency on your behalf when you authorize us to.
• To meet our legal and professional obligations, including keeping records.
• To understand how our website is used so we can improve it.

We do not sell your personal information.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only when it is needed for the purposes above:

• Government agencies such as the Canada Revenue Agency, when we file on your behalf or when the law requires it.
• Service providers that help us run our business, such as website hosting, email delivery, scheduling (Calendly), cloud accounting software used for client work (such as QuickBooks Online) and website analytics (Google). They may only use the information to provide their service to us.

Some of these providers store information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that country.

Cookies and analytics

Our website uses Google Analytics, which places cookies in your browser to measure visits. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s opt-out browser add-on. Blocking cookies won’t stop the site from working.

How we protect and keep your information

We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information, including limiting access to people who need it, using password-protected and encrypted systems, and secure connections on our website.

We keep client records for as long as we need them to provide our services and as long as the law requires. The CRA generally requires business and tax records to be kept for six years from the end of the last tax year they relate to. Website enquiries that don’t lead to an engagement are deleted when we no longer need them.

Your choices and rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent to our use of it (this may limit the services we can provide). Contact us at admin@bbatax.ca. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our practices or the law change. The current version is always on this page.
